Simple Hospitality Excerpt: About the Author

Jennifer Boyd is living a life guided by a compass of faith and being thankful for all things.

Her greatest joy is her family… consisting of a husband, three children, two sons-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and her five perfect grandchildren. Her growing up family consisted of two wonderful parents and four younger siblings.

She has been married for forty-four fabulous years, yet she still feels like a newlywed.

She was given the gift of a happy childhood by loving parents.

She believes in slowing down and not missing moments. She now relishes being Gigi to five precious little people.

She was named "Friendliest" in high school, and her trait has continued throughout life. Strangers are just friends she hasn't met yet.

She is always amazed at God's creation and is overwhelmed with His details in nature.

Young married women and moms have always had a special place in her heart, and she has enjoyed mentoring, and being mentored before it was even called that.

Most would say she has a pleasant and agreeable nature, so I might even believe she owns a pair of rose-colored glasses.

Her dining room table is always, always, ALWAYS set… just in case!

She loves the sound of kicking the fall leaves, and since she lives in Florida… this generally requires a beloved trip to a chilly place of changing autumn leaves. She is so glad to live in a world where there are Octobers.

Conversation at the end of the workday is something she looks forward to with her husband.

Writing is something she must do. She cannot merely read her Bible, a book, or recipe… she must underline and write in the margins, as to never forget sweet memories.

She carries books and toys in the back of her car for grandchildren who request them regularly.

Her friends are precious to her, and she prioritizes staying in touch as best she can.

She has been known to hum because she's happy… and her husband has no idea what song it is!

She loves to hear the church bells and a train whistle in the distance.

She's grateful God made her just the way she is.

People often told her "You should write a book!" And now, after many years… she is taking their advice!
