Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Enjoying a cup of tea with our daughter, Betsy,
who is a mom of three precious boys!

Mother’s Day is one of my very favorite holidays! I’ve always loved that there is a holiday that is dedicated to celebrating moms (and of course, dad’s too!)

If you’re looking for some gift ideas for your own mom, your daughter/daughter-in-law, or a special friend then,
here are a few of my favorite things…

  1. My Book! Of course, the list wouldn’t be complete without a copy of my own book, Simple Hospitality! I think my book holds wonderful ideas to inspire mothers how they can show kindness and hospitality to their own family, friends, teachers and loved ones.

  2. Never underestimate the gift of a personal note! Words mean SO MUCH and can hold lasting value. In fact, I keep a folder of special notes of encouragement.

I wrote a note to my mom many years ago telling her what I admired about her. I recently found it in her recipe box, of all places! What a delight to see she had saved it from all those years ago.

  3. If you know me at all, you know that I LOVE tea! Coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon. So gifting a beautiful mug, tea pot or tea setting is a lovely gift. If you’re local to Orlando, one of my favorites places to find tea cups is Lavender ‘n Lace Tearoom in Lake Alfred or The Barn, right down the road. My dear friend, Molly and I love to go there for special occasions and we’ll often surprise one another with something the other one has been “eyeing.” I also love to tuck a tea bag into a notecard when I mail them to friends. It makes a card extra special and shows you went the extra mile to bring a smile to their face.

  4. I just LOVE the Rifle Paper Company based in nearby Winter Park. They carry the most beautiful stationery and paper products.

Fun fact: The same company that prints for Rifle Paper Co., also printed MY book in Maitland, FL! Here is my current favorite coffee mug from Rifle.

  5. Giving a gift subscription to your favorite magazine is another nice idea that is always welcome and enjoyed all year long. Several favorites of mine are Victoria, Southern Lady, Tea Time, and the Magnolia Magazine.

  6. A gift certificate to a restaurant that includes babysitting is always a winner, as well.

  7. Do you have a special “outdoor something” that you could enjoy together? One of my favorites in the Orlando area is the Scenic Boat Tour in Winter Park. This is their 86th year, so you know it’s good!! Great to get outside and enjoy the fresh air!

I hope one of these ideas inspires you as you think of a special gift to share with a mom in your life for Mother’s Day!
